Shingles are nailed in place by hand or with pressurized nail guns in overlapping rows from the bottom of the roof upwards. Each successive row is staggered and overlaps the joints of the row below. The roof peaks and edges are finished with shingle capping. Roof shingles provide low maintenance costs and are very durable, available in a wide variety of colors and materials such as wood shingles and asphalt shingles.
